We are just aproaching the coldest part of the year. Altough Accomack County is not a winterwonderland , we do look forward to the occasional dusting of snow. A couple weeks ago when New England was hit the locals were very excited about the prospect of some snow. Unfortunatly that ussualy means school closings. The county is not exactly equipped to handle a major clean up and sometimes the smallest amount will shut the back roads down for days. Things to do this time of year are plentiful. You can still try to fish on the nice days. Sometimes the Rockfish will cooperate and come inside the 3 mile limit. There is also some Seatrout fishing if you are willing to travel south near the North Carolina Border in the Elizabeth River and Dismall Swamp. The restaurants are open and welcoming in the towns of Onancock and Chincoteague. The Island House is reopened after a month off in Wachapreague. Come take a walk on the National Refuge at Assateague Island.
